Fighting on the Ostfront was a brutal affair, and it eventually became the main cause of Germany’s defeat. Now Dragon has brought together a collection of eight 1/35 scale figure sets that portray German soldiers fighting on the deadly Eastern Front in the late-war period from 1944 through to mid-1945. There are some favorite classics among these kits, plus half of them are finely detailed Gen2 figure sets. The plastic figures depict German soldiers in different parts of the Ostfront in different weather conditions, defending vigorously as they make the long retreat back towards Germany. Following the introduction of the first version, the AB-40, the AB-41 was built which featured a more powerful engine and was armed with the 20 mm Breda 20/65 gun. Additionally, its 8 mm Breda Mod. 38 coaxial machine gun was fitted into the turret. From a technical perspective the AB 41 armored car was four-wheel drive with two driving seats, one front and one rear. Its speed of 70 km / h and its reliability both on and off-road, made it valued by crews during routine and also advanced reconnaissance missions. Vehicle protection was afforded by riveted plate armor. The AB-41 was deployed extensively by the Regio Esercito on the North African front, and indeed on all the main fronts of the Second World War, it was also used post 1943 by both Italian and German units. It could be used both in an anti-aircraft role and against ground targets. It was similarly effective against lightly armoured vehicles such as trucks, armoured cars, and light tanks. The Breda’s ammunition could penetrate armour up to 30mm. thick. It was supplied in a variety of configurations for the Italian "Regio Esercito," which used it in a fixed position installed on trucks and reconnaissance cars, or in the extremely popular towable field version. The tripod carriage had a stable cross platform with two foldable side legs for towing operations, and two side wheels. It was used by the Italian Army on all its operational fronts during WW2. Au cours de la guerre, la nécessité de produire des automoteurs antiaériens en mesure de protéger les troupes, en plein champ ou en mouvement, contre les attaques aériennes à basse altitude s'est fait sentir. Basé sur la caisse du char d’assaut moyen Panzer IV, le Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind a été construit avec un armement quadruple Flak 38 de 20 mm. Le Wirbelwind a été rejoint à la fin de 1944 par l'Ostwind, plus puissant, qui montait une pièce antiaérienne Flak 43 de 37 mm. Avec une portée de tir étendue, l'armement antiaérien, protégé par un bouclier épais et distinctif monté sur une tourelle hexagonale « à ciel ouvert », pouvait également être utilisé efficacement contre des cibles terrestres pour soutenir les troupes sur le terrain. Les quelques exemplaires produits ont été affectés aux unités anti-aériennes des Panzer Division et se sont avérés efficaces sur le plan opérationnel.
