Italeri Stirling Mk. III Aircraft Kit 1:72

Italeri Stirling Mk. III brings the first four-engined British heavy bomber of the Second World War into a 1:72 aircraft kit with a broad wing planform, elevated cockpit section and the distinctive stance created by its large landing gear. The build focuses on the Mk. III version, the direct successor to the Mk. I, and reflects the aircraft's all-metal airframe and four-engine configuration in a format suited to detailed bench work. The Short Stirling entered Royal Air Force Bomber Command service from the end of 1940, reached operational status in January 1941 and flew its first mission in February 1941 against logistics targets in Rotterdam. This kit draws on that wartime bomber history while adding build depth through multiple finishing paths. The included photo-etched fret introduces finer detail than standard sprue parts alone, and the decal sheet covers 5 versions with serials, stencils, roundels and nose art. The Mk. III variant is noted for Bristol Hercules XVI engines and enhanced defensive armament, giving the subject a clear place within the Stirling development line. Across the workbench, the combination of light grey moulded parts, etched details and historically themed markings supports a focused aircraft project with plenty of finishing character.
