Italeri P-51D Mustang Aces Aircraft Kit 1:72

The Italeri P-51D Mustang Aces kit in 1:72 scale brings one of World War II's most recognized fighter aircraft into a compact build with strong historical character. Based on the P-51D, the most widely produced Mustang variant, this detailed plastic aircraft kit captures the form of the escort fighter that became a defining presence over the European front. The full-size aircraft was developed in remarkably short time around a Packard V-12 engine producing more than 1,600 horsepower, allowing speeds above 700 km/h. That performance made the Mustang a key escort for bomber formations and also a capable fighter-bomber for ground attack missions. The P-51D configuration carried 6 wing-mounted 12.7 mm Browning machine guns, a layout that helped define its operational role. This edition focuses on 5 USAAF aces versions, connecting the finished model to pilots such as Maj. George E. Preddy, Lt. Col. John C. Meyer, Capt. John J. Voll, Maj. Richard 'Pete' Peterson and Maj. Leonard 'Kit' Carson. Figure not included. On the bench, the 1:72 format suits focused painting, decaling and display without demanding much space.
