It was directly developed by the fighter Vought F-8 Crusade airframe. The A-7 was characterized by the large frontal air intake under the cabin, by the 35° foldable swept wing to optimize the use and the storage on the aircraft carriers flight decks and by the adoption of a modern Head-up-Display to enhance the operational effectiveness. Thanks to its underwing hardpoints the A-7 was able to carry an impressive offensive load based on conventional bombs, guided bombs as the Paveway and air-to-surface missiles. The A-7E was the last version produced for the U.S Navy with an improved operational capability and the possibility to use the Harpoon anti-ship missiles and the AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles. In Italy, a similar version is produced on license by Agusta Westland under the designation AB-212. The AB-212 is a medium, two-blade rotor powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6T turbo shaft power turbines providing 1.342 Kw. It is a development of model 205, the main difference being an elongated fuselage. In the first half of the 2000s, the AB 212 was massively updated to enhance its operational capacity. It has been fitted with two 7,62mm swivelling machine guns on the tailgates, and the defensive equipment has been upgraded with antimissile flare launchers and additional ceramic and kevlar armour to protect the crew. Squadrons VF-1 and VF-2 accompanied the last voyage of the aircraft carrier Enterprise in Vietnam, yet never saw combat. Article number: 510001462 Product: 1:72 British Stirling Mk. III The Short Stirling was the first four-engined British heavy bomber of the Second World War. The design had high wing, four engines and the cabin elevated over the fuselage. The airframe was fully made in metal. Another features that characterised the bomber was the impressive size of the landing gears. The first bombers went to equip the Royal Air Force Bomber Command Squadrons from the end of 1940. The Operational status was reached on January 1941 and the first war mission was dated February 1941 against logistic installation in Rotterdam. Stirling Mk. I was able to carry a significant offensive load of over 6,000 Kg of bombs and was armed with eight 7.7 mm machine guns for defence. This led to the creation of the robust Henschel Hs-123 biplane, which was supplied to flying Squadrons in 1935. The first operational deployment of the aircraft took place during the Spanish Civil War to the Condor Legion squadrons. Due to its 880 hp BMW radial engine the Hs-123 was able to reach a top speed of 340 km/h and could carry a large offensive payload. During the Second World War, despite its proven reliability, the rapid technological evolution of aircraft design, engines and performance relegated the Hs-123 to supporting roles. Article number: 510000106 Product: 1:72 Caproni CA.313/314 Vintage The twin-engined Ca.313 was developed by Italian aeronautical company Caproni in the late 1930s. Inspired by the Caproni Ca. 310 Libeccio, it was used by the Regia Aeronautica during the Second World War to undertake light bombing, aerial observation and reconnaissance missions. The two 12-cylinder Isotta Fraschini Delta RC 35 engines delivered 730 hp and allowed the Caproni to attain a maximum speed of 430 km / h. The engines powered three-blade metal propellers with variable pitch. The Ca.314 version was modified for use in other roles such as ground attack, maritime reconnaissance, convoy escort and as a torpedo bomber. The "Caproni" were deployed by the Regia Aeronautica on various operational fronts in the Mediterranean and North Africa. They were also used by the Swedish Air Force and the German Luftwaffe.<br

During the Second World War it was developed a version dedicated to military duties: the Douglas C-47 Skytrain. Produced in large numbers by American production plants, was used extensively by the Allies on all fronts. In particular, the C-47s received by British Royal Air Force and Commonwealth Air Forces took the name "Dakota" and they were used for logistic, tactical transports, launch of paratroopers and medical evacuation. Thanks to its two Pratt & Whitney 1,200 HP engines the "Dakota" was able to reach a top speed of 360 Km/h. It had a pay-load of 2,500 Kg or a capacity of 28 troops.

It has been used by pratically every nation from America to the Soviet Union, by both China and all of the allies during World War II. After World War II it was used in the Berlin airlift, in Korea, during the Israeli-Arab conflicts, and finally became famous in its offensive role in Vietnam as the AC-47 GUNSHIP. The principal military version of the DC-3 was the C-47 SKYTRAIN. The C-47 could be fitted either as a trooper, with folding benches or as a heavy freighter. Warning!
