H The tank destroyer Marder III Sd.Kfz. 138 was developed for the Wehrmacht on the basis of the now obsolete Czechoslovak-made Panzerkampfwagen 38(t). A major improvement was the installation of an effective 75 mm anti-tank gun protected by a slanted steel shield. In order to better protect the soldiers, the engine was placed in the rear part of the vehicle and the weapon system in the middle. SdKfz. 234/2 Puma 8-Rad The German armored car ‘Schwerer Panzerspähwagen Sd.Kfz. 234/2’ known as "Puma", was developed and produced by the German war machine in the closing years of WW2. The vehicle proved to be an excellent mix of mobility, protection and firepower which was built upon the operational experience gained by the Wehrmacht in the early stages of the conflict. From 1939 onwards the German army had used armored vehicles very effectively for advanced reconnaissance tasks, and also in a ground support role for its troops. The "Puma" was initially a reconnaissance vehicle, but due to its KwK 39 L / 60 50 mm gun it could also be used equally effectively in offensive actions against infantry and other armored vehicles. It was deployed in limited numbers on both the Eastern and Western fronts. The highly effective independent suspension system of the eight wheels and the powerful engine, enabled the Puma to reach speeds of up to 90 km/h on all types of battlefield terrain. Référence article: 510006392 Produit: 1:35 DUKW Amphibious vehicle C’est à partir du camion de transport tactique américain General Motor CCKW-353 de 2½ tonnes 6x6 qu’une version amphibie spéciale a été conçue et construite pour répondre aux besoins logistiques des équipes de débarquement de l'armée américaine afin de transférer les marchandises directement et rapidement des navires à la plage. Les composants de base étaient en effet les mêmes que ceux du camion routier GMC avec son moteur 6 cylindres de 4 400 cm3 et ses trois différentiels à six roues motrices. Le DUKW se caractérisait par sa coque soudée, pour la rendre amphibie, renforcée par des nervures horizontales. Sa force résidait dans son extraordinaire polyvalence et sa capacité de charge. En effet, il pouvait transporter 2 400 kg de charge utile soit 25 hommes entièrement équipés. Les DUKW ont été largement utilisés sur tous les théâtres de guerre par l'armée américaine, les Marines et les forces armées de nombreux pays alliés. Ils ont contribué efficacement aux débarquements de Salerne et d'Anzio, en Normandie lors du jour J, à Utah et à Omaha, ainsi que sur les plages du Pacifique.

The A-1 version is characteristic because of its large off-road tires which have earned it the nick-name "big-foot". During its operational use, and in particular in the most recent military campaigns in which it was employed as Iraq and Afghanistan, the "Big Foot" has often been modified with the addition of "home made" protections to reduce the damages caused by the fire of light weapons. Le Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. Tiger I est certainement l'un des chars de combat les plus célèbres de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il fut développé pour équiper les divisions blindées de la Wehrmacht d'un char de combat lourdement blindé et lourdement armé pour accompagner les chars moyens Panzer III et Panzer IV qui étaient les plus répandus mais qui n’étaient plus en mesure de combattre efficacement les chars adversaires. In 1935 Teseo Tesei and Elios Toschi developed and perfected the Siluro a Lenta Corsa (S.L.C.), which was more informally known as "Maiale" (Pig). This was a torpedo modified to allow it to be guided underwater by two operators equipped with respirators. It was intended to carry a high explosive warhead under the keel of enemy ships. The modified torpedoes had limited speed, were fitted with a guidance system and held batteries that powered the electric motor which guaranteed a range of 12-15 miles. The most notable action of these Italian Navy raiders took place on 19th December 1941. Transported by the submarine "Scirè" to the strongly defended Alexandria harbour, the S.L.C.’s were able to attack and disable for several months, Royal Navy battleships H.M.S: Valiant and the H.M.S. Small craft were not covered by these stipulations and resulted in the development of motor torpedo boats starting in the late 1920s. ?The design was based on a civil yacht which was, however, modified to be able to transport two torpedoes: the S-1. ?The evolution of the design continued until it reached, in its most advanced models, 35 meters in length weighing in at 100 metric tons. Even room for secondary armaments was progressively increased. The construction was composite, with aluminium beams and wooden planking. The characteristic ironclad deckhouse appeared with the S-100 model and was a necessary response to increased Allied air superiority and to the intensified low flying air attacks being flown. The boats were primarily used to attack allied ships in the coastal areas of the British Isles, but were also used for operations in the Mediterranean and Black seas, usually under cover of dark. Starting in 1943, after great part of the Kriegsmarine had been either destroyed or immobilised, these motor torpedo boats were among the few vessels still in the water and able to perform military operations, exposing them to a progressively increasing number of battles and the consequent grave losses.

A toutes fins utiles, le président Roosevelt donna l’ordre d’augmenter la production de tanks M4. Ce char ne représentait qu’en partie une nouveauté car il provenait du modèle précédent le M3 "Grant". Il était tout de même porteur de quelques innovations importantes comme la suppression de la coupole secondaire et de son canon de 37 mm et la coque supérieure qui était soudée ou moulée. Le "Général Sherman", puisque tel fut le nom de ce nouveau tank, était équipé d’un canon de 75 mm. Pourtant il était de toute évidence bien insuffisant pour affronter les tanks allemands. Ceci entraîna toute une série de modifications, comme l’adoption d’une tourelle tout à fait inédite, d’une pièce de 16 mm, plus efficace que la précédente et de blindages supplémentaires qui donnèrent lieu au modèle M4 A1. Mis en service à partir de janvier 1944, ce nouveau modèle, qui fut fabriqué environ à 3,400 exemplaires jusqu’à la fin de la guerre, montra, en dépit de ses perfectionnements, de nombreuses lacunes au point de vue de la protection: en fait les équipages des "Sherman" étaient souvent obligés de renforcer la protection des fiancs et de l’avant de leurs tanks en y appliquant des sacs de sable ou bien en soudant des morceaux de chenille aux endroits les plus exposés. Ils arrivèrent même, à certains moments, à certains moments, à garnir les "Sherman" de plaques d’acier ou de blocs en ciment. Sa suprématie en nombre lui permit toutefois de rivaliser avec les tanks allemands et il put mettre à profit ses deux atouts principaux, à savoir: sa mobilité et son excellent canon de 76 mm. Willys prototype was chosen, which, after an initial run of 1500 vehicles, went into mass production at the beginning of 1941 and reached a total output of 640.000 units out of which 277.000 pieces were produced by Ford under a licensing agreement. This shows that the Jeep was the most widely produced light vehicle of the war industry during World War II.

Le Boeing E/A-18 G Growler est né pour répondre à un besoin spécifique de la U.S. Navy : disposer d'un avion spécialisé dans la guerre électronique pour remplacer le Grumman EA-6B Prowler obsolète, tant en termes d'avionique que de performances. Le Growler est directement dérivé de l'avion de chasse biplace F/A-18 F Super Hornet, dont il conserve pratiquement toutes les caractéristiques aérodynamiques. The F-14A first flew on 21st December 1970, and production-line models started reaching squadrons in 1973. Squadrons VF-1 and VF-2 accompanied the last voyage of the aircraft carrier Enterprise in Vietnam, yet never saw combat. The Tomcat would not see action until 1981, when it shot down two Libyan Su-22s during an encounter over the Gulf of Sirte.
