Inspired by the Caproni Ca. 310 Libeccio, it was used by the Regia Aeronautica during the Second World War to undertake light bombing, aerial observation and reconnaissance missions. The two 12-cylinder Isotta Fraschini Delta RC 35 engines delivered 730 hp and allowed the Caproni to attain a maximum speed of 430 km / h. The engines powered three-blade metal propellers with variable pitch. The Ca.314 version was modified for use in other roles such as ground attack, maritime reconnaissance, convoy escort and as a torpedo bomber. The "Caproni" were deployed by the Regia Aeronautica on various operational fronts in the Mediterranean and North Africa. They were also used by the Swedish Air Force and the German Luftwaffe.

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is one of the most famous fighters in the history of aviation and also one with the longest operational life: its history began at the end of the 50s and ended, for some air forces, in mid 2000s. Its unique airframe, with slender fuselage and very little wing surface, made this aircraft ideal as an interceptor. Thanks to the thrust of its General Electric J79-GE-11A afterburning turbojet engine, it could exceed Mach 2,2 with an excellent rate of climb. But it wasn't very maneuverable and difficult to pilot.The F-104G Starfighter was produced on license by several European aviation industries. From the mid 60s, it became the standard interceptor for many NATO countries including Italy, Germany, Holland, Greece, and Turkey. The armament was basically the same found on previous versions, with a 20mm Vulcan cannon and the option to fit under the wings air-to-air missiles, bombs, or additional fuel tanks to increase the airplane's range.With time, reconnaissance duties were added to the traditional interceptor service. It entered into service in 1936 and was characterized by its metal frame and retractable landing gear. Modern and fast for the period, it was deployed by the "Aviazione Legionaria" and had its baptism of fire in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. In September 1940, the "Corpo Aereo Italiano", consisting of the 13th and 43rd Stormo da Bombardamento were similarly equipped with the BR-20. The Stormi were stationed in Belgium and supported the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain. Despite operational comparisons with modern R.A.F. fighters that exposed the BR-20’s limits, it was used for the duration of WW2 on various fronts by several Regia Aeronautica bomber squadrons. Produit à plus de 20 000 exemplaires à partir de 1941, il a été, avec le Messerschmitt Bf 109, le chasseur le plus célèbre de la Luftwaffe. Dans les premières versions, comme le Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8, le chasseur était équipé d'un moteur radial BMW 801 D-2 à double étoile avec 14 cylindres de 1 700 Hp, ce qui lui permettait d'atteindre la vitesse maximale de 653 km/h. Au fil du temps, les concepteurs, à partir de la cellule aérodynamique réussie de l'avion, ont réalisé ce qui peut être considéré comme sa plus grande évolution. Le bombardier en piqué JU-87 est sûrement l’un des avions les plus connus et célèbres de la seconde guerre mondiale. Cette caractéristique de l’avion à aile en forme de « mouette » acquit une grande notoriété au début de la guerre et fut considérée, avec les Divisions Panzer de la Wehrmacht, symbole de la Blitzkrieg. Au cours de la guerre, de nouvelles versions avec des profils opérationnels différents ont été introduites. Après des années de développement et une compétition serrée avec Boeing, la North American Aviation remporta le concours en décembre 1957 avec l'entrée en fonctions des 30 premiers avions prévue en 1965. Mais dès 1959 il devint évident que les nouveaux scénarios de combat aérien n'auraient pas permis au B-70 de survivre en milieu hostile et le programme fut réduit de façon draconienne. À la fin ne furent terminés que deux prototypes dont le premier vola en septembre 1964. Les XB-70 furent toutefois capables de dépasser Mach 3 et sont considérés aujourd'hui par beaucoup de spécialistes et de passionnés comme les plus beaux avions jamais construits.

The Jaguar ground attack aircraft, born in the 1960s from a collaborative project of the French and British aviation industry, was used by the Royal Air Force until the late mid-2000s, demonstrating extraordinary longevity and operational efficiency. Thanks to its two turbojet engines it was able to reach and exceed Mach 1.6. It has been used, carrying out numerous missions, in operational areas characterized by a high level of complexity, including the Balkans and Iraq. In particular, the "all-weather" Jaguar Gr. 3 single-seater version has been significantly updated in avionics and has been equipped with terrain mapping and GPS tracking systems to optimize the role of ground attack aircraft.
