1:87 VW Golf I

When the VW Golf I arrived in the 1970s, its compact hatchback layout marked a clear shift in everyday car design and quickly became one of the defining silhouettes on European roads. This Schuco model brings that familiar shape into a 1:87 format with a silver finish that suits both focused collections and small display scenes. The compact scale makes the model easy to place alongside other vehicles in the same format, whether the setting is a shelf arrangement, a cabinet display or a model railway environment. The VW Golf I body shape remains the visual centre here, with its short overhangs, upright hatchback profile and balanced proportions carrying the character of the original into miniature. Silver keeps the appearance restrained and close to a classic road-going presentation, which helps the model sit naturally beside commercial vehicles, passenger cars or period scene layouts. Placed on a desk, in a collector cabinet or within a diorama, the model adds a recognisable automotive reference without demanding much space. The 1:87 format also makes it a practical choice for building a coherent small-scale vehicle line-up around real motoring icons.
