Few liveries in the history of motorsport are quite as famous, as iconic or as successful as Gulf. The American Oil company has a long history of sponsoring racing cars competing in various forms of Motorsport, from Formula One, to LeMans, Touring Cars to Rally. Amongst its proudest achievements are wins at LeMans in 1968, 1969 and 1975. The firs two wins coming with a Ford GT40.
While Gulf today is still very active in motorsport, it is its rich heritage that attracts many to the brand. The custodians of much of this tremendous heritage is the ROFGO collection. Formed by Roald Goethe the collection consists of some of the most famous raving cars in history. All resplendent in the famous, though differing shades, of blue and orange.
From the GT40s that raced first in this amazing scheme, scoring victories across the world in long distance sports car racing, to the monster cars of the 1970s, the Porsche 917s and Mirage DFV powered cars, right up to the modern sports racing cars the collection contains it all, with only a couple of pieces missing.
From the 1990s a pair of Gulf McLaren F1 GTRs are the highlights. The short tailed car featured here, in a departure from the normal colour scheme, as well as a long tail later version of this amazing racing supercar.
From the 2000s the collection focuses on Aston Martin. The relationship with the famous brand flourished in this era and the class winning Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 cars take pride of place alongside the older cars, their achievements keeping them in prime position within the collection. A tremendous group of motor cars, the ROFGO collection is truly a treasure trove of racing, and Gulf, history.

One of the most radical and recognizable concepts ever to see the Formula One track the six wheeled Tyrrell P34 is, at the time of writing, the only six wheeled Formula One car to ever see the track in a competitive Formula One environment. First shown at the end of the 1975 season and making its debut in 1976 the car proved unpopular with both drivers, Jody Scheckter being unimpressed with the cars handling. His team mate Patrick Depailler however was more complimentary on the cars performance.
The car proved to exceptionally good on circuits with long straights and flowing fast bends, but seemed to struggle more with tighter bumpier tracks. It scored its only victory at the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix at Anderstorp with Jody Scheckter coming in first followed by Patrick Depailler second. The early race leader Mario Andretti In the Lotus 77 was eliminated on the 46th lap, thus handing victory to Scheckter, who had also qualified on pole.
This proved to be the highwater mark for the P34, a number of podiums followed but by the following season the concept had reached the limit of its potential and the team reverted to a more standard design before the whole concept was outlawed later in the decade.
This Limited Edition Collector's Twin Pack is sure to be a popular addition to any slot car fan's collection and with only 3000 units available Worldwide, is likely to be as iconic as the six-wheeled Formula One car itself.

The original Mini was launched to much fanfare and critical acclaim in August 1959. The first Minis were in fact branded Morris Mini Minor and were sold as a small, cheap, dependable family car, whose exterior size masked a surprisingly roomy interior, space enough for four adults and some luggage in the compact boot. As the design matured the Mini became not just a star of the school run, but also the rally stage with the car storming to victory in a number of world famous Monte Carlo Rally’s. on track the car found success too, dominating the lower engine size classes of various saloon series right up until the mid-1970s, Sir Alec Issigonis has truly designed a compact masterpiece. As the swinging 1960s came into full force the Mini became an icon of motoring, taken to the hearts of celebrities from Peter Sellers and John Lennon to even American film stars such as Steve McQueen the mini was to be seen on boulevards in LA as well as side streets in Leicester. It was a car for all and even took to the big screen in some well known films. Today the Mini is 60, but it is still loved across the world, be it at Goodwood still humbling big power saloons in motor racing or at owners clubs and rallies, at 60, or even 64, we all still love the mini.
